Gecko offers a recycling service for PC and inkjet/toner cartridges. We will collect your used cartridges when we visit for any onsite work, or if you have a large amount of cartridges/toners we will be happy to call in and collect them! The cartridges are sent away to specialist companies for refilling and reuse. This is a great way to recycle, as the cartridges are mostly plastic and is environmentally expensive to produce.

Any redundant computer equipment is stripped down to component form and is sorted and tested, then reused, where possible for maintenance of existing computer equipment. The cases are sent to local scrap metal merchants for melting down and recycling.

Secure destruction of personal data, is a very important aspect of recycling IT equipment. We use a binary wipe system (zeros and ones are randomly written to every sector of the hard drive) that will overwrite your data multiple times, to ensure that data retrieval is impossible. UK legislation for armed forces top secret data, states that 3 passes are effective for secure data destruction.
